Connecting History and Community on the Bruce Trail

The Bruce Trail is more than just a path; it is a storied landscape with deep historical roots. Join us on May 9 for the first session of our Bruce Trail Talks: Conservation & Community Speaker Series.

Hosted by Bruce Trail Conservancy CEO Michael McDonald, this afternoon event features expert perspectives from Martin Cooper, Rick Hill Sr., and Tim Johnson. Explore the history of First Nations trail systems and discuss current priorities for engagement and reconciliation. The session concludes with an interactive panel discussion and audience Q&A.

The talk begins at 1:00 p.m. following the Iroquoia Bruce Trail Club Annual General Meeting.

While we are a digital company, we work and live in the city of Hamilton, acknowledging that it stands on the traditional territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, and Mississaugas peoples. This land is part of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant — an agreement between the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabek to share and care for the resources of the Great Lakes region. It is also covered by the Between the Lakes Purchase, 1792, signed between the British Crown and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.

Today, Hamilton is home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island (North America). We recognize our responsibility to learn more about the rich histories and ongoing contributions of Indigenous communities, so we can better honour our roles as residents, neighbours, partners, and caretakers of this land
