The Yodeling Ranger

Reviewed by Jenny St. Germain

The vibe is a magical peep-show of creativity.

Anyone on the music & arts scene in Hamilton knows Tor Lukasik-Foss. And if they know Tor Lukasik-Foss, they know he’s a consummate delighter of audiences. I know because I am one! I stand here thoroughly delighted after watching his solo performance as The Yodeling Ranger.

Wait, watching his solo performance? No, that doesn’t feel accurate. You’re really being granted special access to witness a local legend fully embodying his signature magic.

In a way, it feels almost like a peep-show, looking through a small hole at something you wouldn’t normally get to see. And in that sense, it doesn’t really matter if I tell you the elements of the show, like singing, yodeling, guitar-playing, storytelling, and humour. That’s all there - and it’s wonderful, but it doesn’t nearly capture the golden rocket that is this show.

This is a must-see performance for anyone looking to be delighted and to have that little hole in their heart tickled.
