The vibe is schmaltz.
Written, directed and featuring Tony Martins as his alter-ego Stoney Martins, The Outlaw and The Son, weaves dramatic monologue with predictable cowboy songs – the lyrics of which are projected onto a screen – into a western noir.
Billed as a lost soul; a found faith; and a dead reckoning set in an otherworldly place, Stoney lays bare his troubled past while fighting against the encroaching darkness as he tries to make peace with himself and his “boy.”
Hamilton guitarist, Andrew Aldridge, accompanies Stoney and has some brilliant moments that transform the stage when he breaks into extended rock solos while remaining firmly hidden in the shadows.
