Kristi Boulton shows how she's used humour, and a puppet, to transform shame into stories, by shining light-hearted honesty on some of her most embarrassing experiences.
Lots of audience laughter enhances the pleasure of watching Kristi Boulton in a perfectly
polished one person, one puppet show. She's such a professional with wonderful storytelling skills. Her extensive improv experience shines as she shifts smoothly from her well written script, into spontaneous bits of humour. She's a master at connecting with an audience. It's fun to watch her facial expressions and amazing how skillfully she extends her physical comedy to her puppet.
There's really two distinct characters in this solo show, Kristi and the puppet, with a well
developed relationship between the two of them. While Kristi finds it awkward to talk about her adolescent hormone and alcohol inspired adventures, her brave little alter ego is not shy.
The content is Mature, without being too graphic or explicit, as some comedy can be.
The Studio Theatre at the Staircase, is a wonderfully intimate space to experience Kristi's multi-talentedness. The show has a flawlessly funny flow of sound effects from very talented tech Rose.
There was a full house for opening night, and her shows usually sell out. Kristi is such a pro and so full of energy she's actually doing a second show featuring her musical improv skills, also at the Staircase.
